A Career Built in the Deep End

Lakeyshia’s path through the insurance industry was never surface-level and it wasn’t a straight line either.

She began her career at Nationwide, where she managed agency portfolios across Pennsylvania and Connecticut, drove more than $4.2 million in loss impact improvement, and learned what disciplined underwriting looks like at scale.

In 2015, she made a deliberate pivot. She stepped away from insurance to serve as Director of Development at Brethren Housing Association, an organization that had once served her. As a young mother who had her first child in high school, BHA had been part of her foundation. She graduated from their program upon finishing high school and leaving for college. Returning as a leader years later wasn’t just a career move. It was a full-circle moment that cemented the values she carries into every professional relationship: accountability, stewardship, and genuine investment in people’s futures.

In 2017, she returned to insurance with a sharper sense of purpose. At The Doctors Company, she managed an $8M portfolio and generated over $500K in new premium in a single year. At CURI, she was promoted three times in four years, ultimately leading a $25M MPL portfolio and guiding complex risk decisions on submissions ranging from $1M to $30M. Before founding Evolve, she served as Vice President of Underwriting & Operations at the Care Professional Liability Association, where she led enterprise underwriting operations and strengthened national carrier and broker relationships.

Twenty years in the industry. A journey that includes nonprofit leadership, community roots, and portfolios measured in the tens of millions. And through all of it, one consistent thread: the belief that the best work comes from people who are genuinely invested in the outcome.

Lakeyshia is a published contributor to Chicken Soup for the Soul: Tough Times Won’t Last But Tough People Will. A fitting title for someone who has built and protected something meaningful through real adversity.

She served as Chairperson and Board Member of Oasis Community Partnership for a decade and has been an active contributor to organizations focused on community stability and student welfare. She holds a Master’s in Administration of Human Services from Wilmington University, a B.S. in Business Administration from Shippensburg University, and a Women’s Entrepreneurship Certificate from Cornell University.

She is a licensed Kentucky Resident Producer in Property & Casualty and Life, Accident & Health.
